Our story...

Maria and Elana are a mother daughter design team with over 30 years combined experience in the Interior Design and Fashion Industry. Sharing a love and passion for all things design, they’ve always dreamed of teaming up together. Elm Tree living represents the culmination of that dream. “We're here to help you conceptualize and bring your beautiful space to life. No matter the budget, we believe there is a way to pick the right pieces to elevate your space.”

Maria's love of all things design started as a young girl in South America... She fondly recalls  "I have loved color and design for as long as I can remember, as a kid I made my own bedding...because I couldn't find anything I liked!"  She relocated from Philadelphia's Main Line to be near her children; who had fallen in love with the West during family vacations and had migrated to Colorado and California. In her beloved Philadelphia she worked at the University of Pennsylvania, Swarthmore College and was adjunct faculty in the Architecture and Design Department at Drexel University, where she completed her Masters Degree in Interior Architecture and Design. She is well known in the Main Line community as the former co-owner of the award winning HEY LITTLE DIDDLE CHILD & HOME, as well as her design studio Maria Lucoff Designs. She is a LEED AP accredited designer who has been a guest juror for Moore College of Art & Design, and Philadelphia University's Environmental Sustainability program.

Elana's passion for fashion and design was obvious early on. She insisted on designing her own outfit for her 3rd grade graduation, then asked her mom to execute her vision, which she gladly did! After college she went from her days in set design at TLC's Trading Spaces, to managing wholesale accounts for Urban Outfitters, then store design for Forever 21, she has amassed over 15 years of experience. She loves working with clients to help them cultivate and execute their visions.

Where it all began...

Maria was born in Colombia, raised in Washington, D.C. and spent summers in South America. She was inspired by her maternal grandfather, a South American leather hide dealer, owner of a shoe factory and founder of a chain of retail shoe stores.

HEY LITTLE DIDDLE CHILD & HOME

Maria and her sister Claudia Clobes (www.claudiaclobes.com), an award winning window treatment designer, gained recognition and acclaim for their work at the popular Hey Little Diddle, an award-winning brick and mortar lifestyle boutique and interior design business they co-owned and operated from 1994-2006. Elana worked at her Mom's boutique as a teenager, igniting her love of fashion and design. The sisters’ relaxed California style and sophisticated European aesthetic became a hit in Philadelphia, the Main Line, New Jersey and New York. The charming boutique located in a 1920s stone cottage was the go-to emporium for designer and handmade clothing, custom bed linens, furnishings and gifts. These three unique creative talents, honed at Hey Little Diddle, paved the way for their respective design careers.
